SHFG serves as the voice of the federal historical community, bringing together government professionals with academic faculty, consultants, students, and a broad range of citizens interested in fostering a better understanding of the federal government from a historical perspective. Founded in 1979, the Society works to address common concerns, support shared interests, and stimulate discussion across the federal history community.

SHFG Annual Conference for 2010

The Society for History in the Federal Government (SHFG) is now accepting proposals for individual papers or panels for our annual meeting. It will take place on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland (Archives II), located at, 8601 Adelphi Road in College Park. Proposals on any aspect of federal government history and history practice will be considered and are encouraged. SHFG welcomes submissions from historians, archivists, librarians, curators, graduate students, and others engaged in the study and production of federal government history, regardless of whether or not they are federal employees. Please e-mail proposals to Pete Daniel at pedaniel@aol.com. Conference details and a schedule will be posted on the SHFG web site in the coming weeks.
